The Angolan representatives were received by the director general of the AFD, Rémy Rioux, flanked by senior officials of the institution he presides over, informs the Ministry of Economy.

The projects supported by AFD in Angola and the possibility of expanding the participation of that agency in the implementation of programs and projects of the PDN 2023/2027 were discussed.

One of the topics covered was the establishment of a partnership between the Development Bank and the French Development Agency, with the aim of financing agribusiness projects, within the framework of the diversification of the national economy and the global movement called Finance in Common. which brings together the development banks of countries in pursuit of sustainability.

Also this Tuesday, and after a working meeting with the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in France, the Minister of Economy underlined the need for Angola to adopt a joint economic diplomatic approach.

"We cannot have a single approach to economic diplomacy for all countries. For example, from advanced countries, which is the case of France, in the shortest term, we can obtain foreign direct investment, as there are businessmen, with some capital accumulated, and who are looking to diversify their investment portfolio”, he said.

He reinforced that it is important to have the capacity to attract this investment “especially if it is already in Africa. It is easier to exchange one African country for another”.

The official also addressed Angola-France cooperation from the point of view of selling products, reinforcing Angola's advantages: "We can sell Angola as a tourist destination, because in the cold period, many seek warmer geographies and Angola has nine months of heat. We can also sell products that France does not produce such as tropical fruits, coffee, cocoa, cassava, gindungo and other spices," he said, quoted by Angop.

The Angolan delegation remains committed to promoting business and attracting foreign investment in what is the seventh largest economy in the world and the second in Europe.

It should be recalled that trade in Angola/France goods in the 2022/2022 period was around US$4 billion. Of the value, 2.9 billion are exports from Angola to France and 1.1 billion from France to Angola.
