Germans want factories in Angola and ask for closer contacts with local businessmen

German businessmen are looking for new markets for the supply of raw materials and for the installation of industries in different sectors and Angola is one of the countries that is at the top of the list. The revelation was made by the Executive President of International Affairs of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Volker Tremer, and was made during a meeting with the Angolan delegation in Berlin, led by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João.

The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a kind of confederation, which has 3.5 million businessmen, who are members of the 19 chambers of Commerce and Industry in Germany, explains the Ministry of Economy in a statement to which VerAngola had access .

"We coordinate a global network of chambers in 93 countries and more than 100 offices. And that's why we know that there are lots and lots of German companies that want to diversify their supply chain. Some of them have invested in markets all over the world and after their experience with covid-19 - the blockades and the disruptive logistics network - they want to reallocate production to diversify their markets", explained the president of the association, Volker Tremer.

According to Tremer, for this to happen, access to critical raw materials is needed. "Our companies don't just want to extract the materials and bring them to Germany, they want to invest in the countries, one of them is Angola. "We are very interested in having closer contacts to do what we said. We want clean energy, and speaking of renewable energy, Angola is a good place" for that.

The also Executive member of the Board of Directors for European Economic Affairs considers that Angola is "a growing country in Africa, where the engagement of German companies has a strong potential".

"We know it's a potential market, with a growing population and a market with an abundance of natural resources and an abundance of wonderful people," he said.

The German official also said that the meeting with the Minister of Economy and Planning was very objective, as the minister clearly pointed out the strategic points in cooperation between the two countries. He considered that training human and institutional capital and the certificate of origin are very useful for exporting companies. He also spoke of a sectorized approach in the partnership, jointly analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the Angolan market.

The Minister of Economy and Planning, on the other hand, considered the meeting very important, as it allowed providing a current vision of Angola, but above all because it opened the doors of the Angolan market to a chamber of millions of members.

"From now on, we will work on the three defined topics: namely, the possibility of organizing fairs together, technical assistance to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to accelerate the process of certifying the origin of products and identifying potential partners in specific sectors in this approximation, also depending on the priorities of the country and companies", referred the member of the Angolan Government.

The Minister of Economy and Planning was accompanied by the Secretaries of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, the Angolan ambassador to Germany, Balbina da Silva, by the Secretaries of State for Commerce, Amadeu Nunes and for Agriculture and Livestock, João Cunha , as well as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency, AIPEX, Lello Francisco.

The Executive Member of the Board of Directors of European and International Economics, was accompanied by the Delegate of the German Economy in Angola, Vandrés Spellmeier and by the Director of the Americas, Mark Heinzel.
