João Lourenço witnesses military maneuvers and sets up a meeting to address the state of the FAA

The President of the Republic – and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) – witnessed this Tuesday the first Command and General Staff Exercise of the year 2023, which involved tactical maneuvers at the Soba Matias Polygon, in Menongue.

In the province of Cuando Cubango, João Lourenço attended the military exercise with real combat fire, "to maintain the high levels of operability and reinforce the unity and cohesion of the Angolan Armed Forces", says CIPRA in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The combat modality was a counter-offensive to annihilate the enemy invasion in the national territory, with a view to restoring stability along the border and support with the landing of special troops on the front line.

The Government claims that the purpose of the action was to assess the combat readiness of the forces and means available to the FAA.

The military exercise included the participation of an Army motorized infantry brigade, devices from the National Air Force (FAN) and the Angolan Navy (MGA).

This Wednesday, the President of the Republic will lead a meeting that will address the general situation of the Angolan Armed Forces in its multiple facets.

Minister of Defense highlights the readiness of the Armed Forces

When summarizing the exercise of the military manoeuvre, the Minister of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, praised the courage, determination and spirit of mission shown by all the personnel involved in carrying out the tactical manoeuvre.

To the General Officers, Admirals, Superiors, Captains, Subalterns, Sergeants and Privates who participated in the preparation and execution of the manoeuvre, João Ernesto dos Santos encouraged them to remain firm in defending the values and duties that have always characterized the FAA throughout its existence.

According to a statement made available by the Provincial Government of Cuando Cubango, the Minister took the opportunity to reiterate the feeling of gratitude for the visit of the President of the Republic to the FAA Training Polygon.

He also reaffirmed the Executive's commitment to continue to pay special attention and multilateral assistance to the FAA, giving them the ability to persuade "in the fulfillment of the noble mission entrusted to them by superiors".

The Chief of Staff of the FAA, Aviation General Altino dos Santos, made it known that the fulfillment of the final phase of the combat action programs, which end with the carrying out of the tactical manoeuvre, closes the Year of Preparative Instruction.

The official guaranteed that with the success of the Military Maneuver exercise it is clear that the FAA is prepared to, under any circumstances, defend Angola's sovereignty.
