Luanda's new airport will be named after António Agostinho Neto

Luanda's new airport, which is being built in the capital and should be completed next year, will be named after António Agostinho Neto, the country's first president, who became independent in 1975.

The decision was taken this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers, according to a statement quoted by Angop.

The attribution of this designation "constitutes a tribute and a tribute by the Angolan people to the nationalist, the first President of Angola and national hero", the note said.

The Government also approved the name of Paulo Teixeira Jorge International Airport for Catumbela Airport (Benguela), in honor of the Angolan nationalist and diplomat.

The Council of Ministers also created the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services, an entity in charge of ensuring the coordination and execution of consular activity and assistance to Angolan communities in the diaspora.
