Luandan swimmers break three national records during provincial championship

Several athletes belonging to the Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda (CNIL) made history during the competition of the Luanda Provincial Swimming Championship. The competition, which took place by categories and included male and female swimmers, witnessed a series of young athletes – promises of the sport – breaking national records.

Taking place in the 50-meter pool at Complexo de Alvalade, the records were set at the 4x200 meters, a joint event in which David Padre, José Cochofel, Rafael Bredel and Rildo Francisco swam in nine minutes, 28 seconds and 64 hundredths, improving by 29 seconds in compared to the previous time, reports Jornal de Angola.

In the same category and also from Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda, Inara Santos, Nyriam Morais, Milena Lourenço and Welwtschia Silva were highlighted. The new national record achieved by the athletes is set at 10 minutes, 24 seconds and 36 hundredths, against 10:52.57 of the previous mark.

In the children's category, it was Rhanya Espírito Santo who wrote her name on the list of national records by swimming the 800 meters freestyle in 11 minutes, 24 seconds and 21 hundredths. The previous record belonged to the athlete – already mentioned in this text – Welwtschia Silva and was fixed at 12:04.79.

Despite these three national records belonging to the CNIL, 1.º de Agosto stood out in the team classification, which accumulated 24,192 points throughout the competition. The Nossa Senhora da Anunciação team (ADEOA) followed with 17,242 points and Óscar Sport Clube (OSC) with 11,098 points.

In terms of categories, ADEOA (23,361 points) and CNIL (22,973) in juniors stand out. In juveniles and children, the CNIL was stronger, followed by the 1st of August.
