Parliament will debate doctors' strike and training of health human resources

The parliament will debate human resources training strategies in the health sector and the doctors' strike during its fifth ordinary plenary meeting scheduled for 18 May, it was announced.

The information was transmitted by the first secretary of the National Assembly, Raul Lima, at the end of the conference of the presidents of the parliamentary groups guided by the president of the organ, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.

According to the vice-president of the parliamentary group of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), Manuel da Cruz Neto, quoted by the Angola Press agency, the health system in Angola is organized in terms of human resources.

The vice-president of the parliamentary group of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA, opposition), Maurílio Luyele, considered that the measures to resolve the conflict between doctors and the Ministry of Health "have not been able".

The current situation in the health sector, for the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola – Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), Alexandre Sebastião André, "should be a matter of concern for everyone".

The deputies will also vote on the whole, in this plenary, the legislative package for the media and the proposals for an organic law on the organization and functioning of the courts of common jurisdiction, the merchant navy, ports and related activities.

The proposed law amending the Industrial Tax Code will be discussed in general terms.
