Considering this an essential product for human consumption, the official visited the salt pan, where he stated that the Government, through Prodesi, is committed to creating policies that allow private companies access to credit.
He also referred that this fact has allowed the purchase of equipment to increase both production and jobs, especially for young people.
"The country should not only receive from outside, we have to create the conditions for national entrepreneurs to improve their activities. There are several programs that are contributing to the country's development, so we advise entrepreneurs to be affiliated with associations or cooperatives ", he said, quoted by Angop.
The factory manager, Rui Teixeira, reported that the Porto-Amboim salt pans produce around 700 tons of iodized salt monthly, an amount that has managed to satisfy the needs of the domestic market.
However, taking into account the possible increase in production, the salt pan needs funding – in the order of three million dollars – for the purchase of equipment and an improvement in working conditions.
The company currently has 70 workers, hoping to hire new jobs as production increases.
