Angola's largest private oil company acquired 20 percent of Total's stake in block 14

Somoil, the main private national oil company, has acquired a 20 percent stake in French Total, in block 14, worth more than 150 million dollars, the oil company's official said on Tuesday.

According to the chairman of the Board of Directors of Somoil, a company that has been on the market since 2000, the negotiation for the acquisition of this stake lasted almost a year and was possible with mostly international financing and a small share of national banks, as well as around 25 percent of own funds.

"Somoil's entry into block 14 will transform Somoil from a company that produces 4000 to 5000 barrels, a share of Somoil, to a company that will start producing 15,000 barrels, a share of Somoil. terms of growth for our company. We did all the economic evaluation with a price of 50 dollars a barrel and the deal made a lot of sense for us", he considered.

Edson dos Santos highlighted that, for 12 years as an operator, Somoil's objective is to be close to the major operators, the opportunity being this acquisition in block 14, the first in deep waters to come into production in Angola, operated by Chevron, the northern oil company -American, and with a production of 60,000 barrels of oil per day.

Somoil operates in blocks 2/05 and FS-FST associations, as well as holding interests in offshore blocks in blocks 3/05 and 3/05A, block 4/05 and block 17/06.
