Paulo Amaral presents at Galeria Tamar Golan with “100 Kigila”

The Angolan artist Paulo Amaral will present himself on the 6th of May at Galeria Tamar Golan with “100 Kigila”, a solo exhibition.

:

In a statement sent to VerAngola, the artist explained that "100 Kigila" is a typical expression of Caluanda slang. "It means 'no problems' ... 'no makas'", he says, saying that he adopts it with the sense of living a permanent inner peace.

More than that, the author of the exhibition says he wants to share with everyone, without exception, "this good energy and good vibes".

"It is also a way to free ourselves spiritually from bad energies, aka 'maíngas' and other 'malambas', which through music, dance, theater, painting and other artistic and cultural expressions make our mind more open , clean and relaxed. For all this, may life be '100 Kigila'", he says.

The "100 Kigila" concept unites, in addition to plastic works, music, at 8 pm, with the band Silk N'Roots, which will take art lovers to the emotions of rock music.

Paulo Amaral was born in Lisbon, in 1969, by chance in history... Self-taught, an Angolan who for a long time has breathed and felt the colors and traces of the land that saw him grow up.

He attended the Middle Institute of Education in Luanda, worked as a designer of architectural projects, was in the military and had a stint in music in a jazz band.

He always maintained a strong connection with the traits and, in 1988, he discovered the sense of colors and began his career as a painter, having his first exhibition "Colors and Tones", in March 2001.

Since then he has participated in 38 individual and collective exhibitions, the most recent being in 2021 in the second edition of Reciclarte.

"100 Kigila" will be open to the public until the 27th of May, and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, in the contemporary art gallery of Fundação Arte e Cultura, on the island of Luanda, next to the school 1205.
