Petro de Luanda impresses and wins at the African Basketball League debut

This Tuesday, Petro de Luanda beat AS Police, Mali's team, by 84-66, in a debut game of the African Basketball League, played in Rwanda.

Guided by the Brazilian José Neto, the Angolans went in search of the third continental trophy, creasing the status of candidates for the title.

In the first quarter, the team showed its superiority, finishing with 20 points difference (29-9). The coach then decided to run the Angolan bank, which allowed the Malians to recover, however, always with Petro in advantage.

After the break, José Neto launched his strong team again, putting an end to the possibilities of the Malians in discussing the victory. At the end of the third quarter, Petro already won by 70-45. The final result was set at 84-66.

Jone Pedro was the best on the field for Petro de Luanda with a 'double-double' of 17 points and an equal number of rebounds. Also noteworthy is Valdelício Joaquim, with 16 points and five rebounds.

Petro de Luanda will return to the field next Thursday to face FAP, team from Cameroon. On the 23rd the match will be against AS Salé of Morocco. The two teams met this Tuesday, with the victory smiling to the Moroccans (87-84).
