Benguela General Hospital has a pediatric intensive care unit

Benguela General Hospital has gained a pediatric intensive care unit. António Cabinda, director of the Provincial Health Office, considered that with this unit, which is already operating, the hospital has better conditions to assist critically ill patients.

With capacity for thirteen beds, the intensive care unit has monitors, ventilators, and infusion pumps. It also has an isolation room for children who have contagious diseases and have to be hospitalized.

Cited by Angop, António Cabinda considered that the unit will become a reference for the Benguela province.

He explained that there have been some complications in providing assistance to critically ill patients, but admitted that this new unit will help the hospital to provide a better medical response.

Visited by Deolinda Valiangula, vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, the building is the result of a Government investment, which aims to improve the health service provided to the population.
