In a statement, the authorities stressed that the couple had been approached on Sunday before boarding by agents who had conducted them for baggage searches and personal searches.
"With the man, the police found more than five kilos of cocaine in small packages tied to the body and, likewise, with the woman another six kilos of the same drug were found," the note reads.
Angolans said they were going to Namibia, where they would receive payment for transporting the drug in foreign currency.
In another action, carried out by the police at the same airport, more than two kilos of cocaine were found hidden inside the wall clocks of a 26-year-old Brazilian passenger, who intended to travel to Senegal.
According to the authorities, all detainees with drugs at the airport in São Paulo received a prison sentence and will be presented to the Federal Court where they will be held responsible for the crime of international drug trafficking.
