Recredit has already recovered 7.1 billion kwanzas of non-performing loans from the BPC

Recredit, a state-owned company created to recover bad debts from the Bank of Savings and Credit (BPC), announced the recovery of 7.1 billion kwanzas to date.

:

According to the chairman of the Board of Directors of Recredit, Valter Barros, for this year the recovery of around 19 billion kwanzas was scheduled, a goal that he considered quite optimistic in view of the current economic situation in the country.

"Of course, we think it is a very ambitious value, if we take into account the economic situation that the country is experiencing, but it is also a way of putting some pressure on our recovery teams, in fact our goal is to recover the maximum amount loaned by the BPC and return the maximum amount of money to the national treasury ", said Valter Barros, speaking to RNA.

The official stressed that, in the framework of the recovery process, around 7.1 billion kwanzas have already been returned, as a result of last year's activity.

"Therefore, we will consider a value that still falls short of the objectives set for Recredit, but we also know that last year was a challenging year and a year of many uncertainties in economic activity due to the pandemic that the country is experiencing", he stressed.

Valter Barros stressed that for the recovery of capital, a basis for negotiation with the debtors was established, "on an equal footing", so when an agreement is not reached, "the cases are referred to the litigation area, which will instruct the due process to initiate legal action ".

In June 2020, the state-owned BPC transferred 80 percent of its non-performing loans to Recredit - Gestão de Activos, estimated at 951 billion kwanzas.
