Health officials began processing more than 400 samples from neighborhoods with a sanitary fence

The processing of samples collected in the neighborhoods where there have been cases of local transmission of covid-19 in Luanda, and which are currently with a sanitary fence has already begun, announced the Secretary of State for Public Health.

Franco Mufinda said that more than 100 samples collected in Cassenda (Maianga) are being processed, followed by another 300 samples from Futungo de Belas (Talatona) where cases of local transmission of the virus associated with 'patient 26' were diagnosed.

Angola has not registered new cases in the last 24 hours, with 45 positive, of which two deaths, 14 recovered and 29 active and clinically stable.

18 cases of local transmission have already been identified. 803 people are in institutional quarantine, 41 of whom were discharged.

To date, 5978 samples have been processed, 45 of which are positive, 5521 are negative and 412 are being processed.

Franco Mufinda also announced that the Government had received ten tons of biosafety material from the Qatar Development Fund to support the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

Globally, according to a report by the AFP news agency, the covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 292,000 deaths and infected more than 4.2 million people in 195 countries and territories.
