This film festival is an initiative of the Tribeca Film Festival, in partnership with YouTube and other major international festivals of the seventh art such as Sundance, Cannes, Toronto, Rotterdam among others.
With free access worldwide, the festival will run for 10 days and can be viewed on Youtube.
The premiere of "Air Conditioning" takes place on Saturday, June 6, at 4:45 pm (Luanda time), and the film will be available for free on the platform for seven days.
Written, produced, filmed and edited entirely in Angola, the film is born out of the urgency to make more fictional cinema in Angola, says producer Geração 80.
It has written and directed by Fradique, one of the most expressive voices in contemporary Angolan cinema - National Award for Culture of Cinema in Angola - this being his first feature film.
“Air Conditioning” had its world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2020.
The story goes that, “when the air conditioners in the city of Luanda mysteriously started to fall, Matacedo (guard) and Zezinha (housemaid) had the mission of recovering the chief's device by the end of the day”
According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the festival will bring together films by several directors selected by curators with the aim of providing relief and entertainment to people from all over the world at no cost.
The festival's program will include feature films and short films, documentaries, music, comedy and debates.
During the festival, the public will be able to make donations to combat Covid-19, and all proceeds raised will be forwarded to the World Health Organization and to various local institutions worldwide.
