Located in the Benguela province, the Cine-teatro Monumental was designed by the architect Fernando Batalha.
The inauguration of this, the oldest movie theater in the city of Benguela, took place on June 10, 1952.
The cinema-theater, which for several years was the only cinema in the city, initially had a capacity for 1300 people, consisting of a balcony, stalls, boxes, among others.
The room ended up closing its doors in the 1980s. However, it was reopened in 2004, after former football player Osvaldo Cruz decided to rehabilitate this infrastructure.
The first screening after reopening was the film Matrix.
