According to Alves Simões, the funds were inherited from the previous administration, led by Artur Almeida e Silva.

The director, who reacted at a press conference to review the 100 days in charge of FAF, stated that the liabilities are related to debts to employees of the governing body of Angolan football, and to services provided by third parties, and then said that an audit was underway.

"What we found was a financial debt of more than two billion kwanzas. It is a liability related to debts with FAF employees and partners. We are working to renegotiate payment methods with partners, so much so that we have already paid 180 million kwanzas of this debt. This debt is what we have found in our financial area, so an audit is now underway to see what is happening," he said.

On the occasion, Alves Simões also explained that the professional football league in Angola will start next season.

"We met with the clubs, and the Angolan Football League will be a reality next year," he assured.

The current FAF board of directors was elected on December 23, 2024, with 51 percent of the votes, against 45 percent for the outgoing president Artur Almeida e Silva, who served two terms, each of five years, and four percent for Norberto de Castro, the other candidate.
