Adam de Almeida, who opened the awarding ceremony of several Angolan individualities, as coordinator of the Interministerial Commission for the organization of commemorative actions alluding to the 50th anniversary of national independence, said that recalling, evoking and exalting these two "indelible" moments in Angola's collective history "are not only elementary patriotic duties, but unavoidable acts of the permanent process of construction of the nation ”.
According to Adam de Almeida, the construction of a nation imposes that it respects "the timeline" as a natural law that says that "there is past, there is present and there is future."
"It is therefore essential to respect the past, to act responsibly in the present and have vision in the future. That's why we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our independence under the motto: preserving and valuing the achievements achieved, building a better future."
The ruler stressed that recognizing the achievements of Angola's best children is "a duty of historical justice," adding that "the Angolan nation is being built with the sacrifice of all their children."
Adão de Almeida said that the tribute to 247 citizens by President João Lourenço marks the beginning of the award program alluding to the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
Other awards will be granted throughout the year, and must cover the most varied moments and milestones of the history of Angola and the most different domains of society, he said.
The minister stressed that a homeland who "recognizes the achievements of his children, places himself in a correct position for the consolidation of the nation."
"We are registered in our history in a perennial way the heroism of those who had never been content, with the colonial occupation and therefore resisted," he said, also stressing that in the history of Angola is registered "forever the ability to overcome adversity and forgive, making room for space for peace and national reconciliation."
