"We have to grow faster so that the impacts are felt more clearly in the lives of citizens," he stressed, highlighting that the goal is to achieve growth of five percent per year.

Speaking at the second edition of the 'Conversas Economia 100 Makas' conference, Lima Massano also highlighted that the economy needs scale and that the food domain must be the basis of development, due to the need for food security, writes Jornal de Angola.

The Minister of State also defended the need to diversify the national economy: "The diversification of our economy is something that necessarily has to happen."

He acknowledged that the challenges are greater, but "things are already starting to happen", having also referred to the "strong dependence" on oil.

"We still have a strong dependence on a single export product [oil] and our performance is closely linked to the growth rate of this sector," he said.

In his speech, the governor also pointed out several indicators recorded last year. One of these indicators was the fact that 2024 was the year that generated the most jobs, with data from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) – referring to people who contribute to this entity – indicating the generation of 218 thousand new jobs in 2024.

In the food sector, the minister revealed that there was also growth. According to Lima Massano, in 2024, the food sector registered growth of around 18 percent.

In the period 2022 to 2023, he said, food imports decreased by 33 percent, and in 2024 there was a decrease of another six percent.

The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, quoted by Jornal de Angola, assured that support for the productive sector will continue, having called on businesspeople to do their part.

"We need the capacity to undertake," he added.

The agricultural sector was also addressed by the minister, who reported that, in recent years, rice production in the country has increased fivefold, currently standing at 50 thousand tons per year.
