The awards were presented this Sunday, and the achievements were announced by Tadisi Nsangu Baruch, the Angolan filmmaker who directed the film, on his Linkedin page.

"I just won two trophies at the Musses Film Award International Festival.... Best Director.... Best Actress," the post reads.

Thus, the awards won by 'Por Jade' were given to Baruch and Marta Tomás, in the categories of 'Best Director' and 'Best Actress', respectively.

In addition to these two categories, the Angolan film – which was chosen by the jury with 114 points – was also in the running for the categories of 'Best Cinematography' and 'Best Production Design'.

Regarding this achievement, the filmmaker considered that it demonstrates the "persistence and talent of young Angolan creators in various fields of art".

"Winning this award gave me an inexplicable feeling. It is a highly competitive festival, with strong competitors from all over the world. I still can't believe we were recognized! This shows the persistence and talent of young Angolan creators in the various fields of art," said Baruch, in statements to Jornal de Angola.

Considering that national cinema has made significant progress, as a result of the great determination of young filmmakers who have combined talent and low production costs, the filmmaker promised to continue promoting the country's culture in various international film exhibitions.

These are not the first awards that the national film has received. In September 2024, it was among eight finalists in the running for the title of best feature film at the final of the 'Tony Curtis International Film Festival', held that month in Hungary, having won the award for 'Best Audience Appreciation'. While in November 2024, it also received awards in three categories at the Portuguese Independent Film Festival.
