Complaints about land conflicts in Angola more than doubled in the first quarter of this year, with more than a thousand cases, compared to the 500 registered in 2023, according to data from the Ombudsman.

:

Florbela Araújo, who was speaking to the press at the end of a lecture on "The Ombudsman in Angolan Legislation", said that, in 2023, 7000 complaints were registered, including land conflicts, procedural delays in the courts and crime.

Cited by the Angop agency, Florbela Araújo stated that the provinces of Malanje, Kwanza Sul, Cunene and Cuando Cubango lead the list of complaints.

According to the Ombudsman, commissions are being created to mediate land conflicts amicably or at court level.

For 2024, Florbela Araújo said the objective is to expand the provider service throughout the country and raise awareness among some bodies in the State's central and local administration to respond to citizens' complaints.

In 2023, the coordinator of the Management Commission of the Instituto Geográfico Cadastral de Angola (IGCA), Conceição Cristóvão, said that daily they received from the justice authorities "an infinity" of documents on land conflicts, from individuals and companies, in Luanda, with greater emphasis on the urban hull.

Conceição Cristóvão said that there are "in the order of thousands" of cases received regarding land conflicts.

"There are many, we receive documents every day from the SIC (Criminal Investigation Service), the PGR (Attorney General's Office), where conflicts are at an interpersonal level, that is, between natural persons, and also between legal persons, that is, between companies and individuals", said the person in charge.
