The referee, who ended his career on Thursday after 27 years, did not name the teams that enticed him, nor did he clarify whether or not he accepted the goods.
"I've already been enticed to favor one or another team. They appeared with talk of prizes like chocolates, perfumes and many other things. Even to give red to influential players of certain teams", he admitted.
Hélder Martins, who is regarded as one of the best referees in Angolan football, has suffered several criticisms in recent years for having been involved in games whose arbitrations were controversial, as well as some games in African competitions.
Hélder Martins also said that he would dedicate himself to coordinating a social and sports project called "Talentos do Apito", which aims to attract young talents who can serve Angolan football, through refereeing.
