Participants at the meeting, which took place between 11 and 13 April in Luanda, considered Angola's performance in the rotating leadership of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the initiatives for consolidating the economic pillar as important diplomatic achievements.

The leadership of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICRGL) and the assumption of the presidency of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP) was also praised by the participants.

According to the final communiqué of the IX Extended Consultative Council of Mirex, the meeting comprehensively addressed political, diplomatic, strategic, administrative, financial, patrimonial and juridical-legal issues.

With regard to diplomatic activity, the council members highlighted Angola's recent achievements in the international arena, in particular the progress made in the process of pacifying States and regions in Africa, the "opening of new routes" of political, technical and economic cooperation in Asia and the "consolidation" and expansion of bilateral ties with countries in the American and European continents.

He also addressed the international political situation, with the participants considering that the current geopolitical disputes in Europe and Asia "have a negative impact" on the structure of international relations, mainly on the international security system, on trade and on the world economy.

They recommended "due adjustments" in Angola's foreign policy and diplomacy in the face of possible changes in the world order, "without losing sight of the defense of the national interest".

As for the diaspora, the final communiqué highlighted their contribution to the political, economic, social and cultural life of the country and the need to guarantee their legal protection in the host countries.

He also recommended a statistical survey of Angolan communities abroad, identification of social status, migratory, work and family situation and also urged the creation of associations in communities and the reactivation of existing ones.

And at the end of the work, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António, who chaired the advisory council, signaled that the diagnoses made on diplomatic activity and the internal organization of Mirex "need immediate resolution"

"But, we noted with satisfaction the general will to resolve and overcome all the issues presented", he said, asking, at the same time, the participation of all employees aiming at a "dynamic and assertive" diplomacy.

"Regarding the internal organization, we hope that the reforms that Mirex has carried out will solve many of the problems that our house has experienced over the years", he stressed.

The works of the IX Extended Consultative Council of Mirex take place at the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, in Luanda, under the motto "Mirex and Angolan Diplomatic Action in the Current International Context – Challenges and Perspectives".
