Brazil highlights “relaunch of strategic partnership” with Angola

The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted this Wednesday before his Angolan counterpart the "relaunch of the strategic partnership" with Angola following the VII Meeting of the Joint Commission between the two countries.

This meeting marks the "relaunch of the strategic partnership between Brazil and Angola", stressed Mauro Viera, at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasília, after the VII Joint Commission Meeting, in which several agreements and memoranda were signed between the two Portuguese-speaking countries.

This "new impetus in the relationship" should "expand even more bilateral investments", underlined the Brazilian minister.

Among the agreements signed, the Brazilian diplomat highlighted the agreement to avoid double taxation of profits from international air and maritime transport and an agreement in the area of health, "important to deepen cooperation in the milk bank project in Angola".

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, thanked "the Brazilian people for their fraternal treatment" and congratulated the technical delegations of the two countries that over the last few months have met with a focus on agriculture, economy, transport, education, health and public safety.

Téte António also announced that the Brazilian embassy in Angola will have an agriculture attaché in order to boost reactions between the two countries in this area.

During his speech, Téte António also said that the two parties discussed various issues such as climate change, the reform of the United Nations Council, and the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), whose presidency currently belongs to Angola.

At the VII Meeting of the Brazil-Angola Joint Commission, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the civil aviation agencies of Brazil and Angola and another memorandum on strengthening education.

In 2022, Brazilian exports to Angola amounted to 584.19 million euros, a growth of 56.9 percent compared to 2021 and imports were 699.13 million euros, an increase of 352 percent.

"Brazil's exports to Angola include meat (17 percent) and parts and accessories for automotive vehicles (16 percent). oil or bituminous minerals (34 percent)", stressed the Brazilian diplomacy.
