Businessmen and entrepreneurs from the Portuguese-speaking space discuss obstacles to activity in Luanda

The administration of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) said this Friday that the meeting of businessmen and entrepreneurs from the Portuguese-speaking space, taking place in the capital, will discuss "in an honest, open and profound way" the obstacles to business activity.

The chairman of the board of directors of the ZEE, Manuel Pedro, referred that the FIN Business Angola Forum, a meeting of Portuguese-speaking businessmen, a project by AJEPEC – Association of Young Entrepreneurs Portugal-China (AJEPC), is a platform for sharing experiences.

Manuel Pedro, who was speaking at the opening of the event, recalled the challenges linked to the supply of water and energy for the operation of the ZEE, since its entry into operation in 2009, to substantiate the relevance of the FIN Business Angola Forum, in Luanda.

"It is for this reason that the ZEE, being the largest industrial center in the country and looking at the aspects that are for attracting investment, brings this event in the sense of honestly, openly and profoundly discussing the obstacles that are linked to our activity," he said.

"We are talking here about access to energy, water, sanitation and a whole set of factors linked to the business environment and the regulatory framework", he said.

According to the official, who considers the ZEE as an important vehicle in the process of diversifying the economy, creating jobs, increasing national production and promoting exports, it should also "strengthen" ties between Portuguese-speaking entrepreneurs.

"It is an event that starts today, but we hope to have other discussions in the future on topics related to economic activity, to industry and therefore we hope that this event is in the sense of finding solutions to the major problems we are experiencing", he pointed out.

And the president of AJEPC, Alberto Carvalho Neto, highlighted, on the occasion, the importance of the FIN Business Angola Forum, noting that the initiative should contribute to the promotion of business in Portuguese and strengthen the position of businessmen worldwide.

"We aspire that, next year, we can hold our African Union/European Union event here at FIN, yesterday we signed a protocol between the organizing entities and the ZEE so that the ZEE will be our welcoming place in the coming years to also give the capacity of being present in the market", he stressed.

He also defended the continuity of actions by FIN stakeholders for the sustainability of the organization's business chain.

"We are part of FIN, what we ask is that this chain not die, keep our development and the business fabric working, because above all we are here to strengthen the ability to get to know each other", he pointed out.

Water, renewable energies and economic diversification are some of the themes to be discussed in the panel at this meeting.

FIN Business Forum Angola consists of creating a network of contacts based on the Portuguese language and its main purpose is to unite businessmen and entrepreneurs from continents that share the Portuguese language.
