The administration of the Luanda Railway (CFL) E.P, in a press release, states that the accident occurred around 10:30 am, nine kilometers from the Zenza do Itombe station, Kwanza Norte province, and the derailment did not cause any damage on the line.
The CFL says that the causes of the accident are not yet known and a commission of inquiry will investigate the origin of the derailment on the spot.
A technical team from the railway company "will travel to the site in the next few hours to assess the situation and, if possible, begin rerailing work and removing the damaged material".
