This "pioneering project developed in Cabinda", one of the country's main oil producing regions, was described this Friday by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, as a "historic feat" that reflects the executive's support the incorporation of local content.

The Lifua A project, produced in 11 months, is located in the Malongo field, about 25 kilometers from the city of Cabinda and aims to optimize production in Block O, one of the oldest in Angola that Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC ), operates with several partners, including Galp-Exploração, which holds 9 percent of the consortium, and the State, via Sonangol, which is the main shareholder (41 percent).

Diamantino Azevedo said that CABGOC, which has been present in Angola for more than 60 years, requested an extension of the concession period for Block 0 by another 20 years, which will bring additional revenue of US$27.6 million to the State.

The director general of CABGOC, Billy Lacobie, explained that the standard manufacturing allows to reduce costs and has been implemented by Chevron in several countries, and should also be replicated in other fields in Angola, but declined to reveal the investment.

The project created 300 jobs, mainly for Angolans, with the next phase being the transport of the modules to the sea, which should take 30 days, starting in June.

The same was presented to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on his second day of visit to Cabinda and should go into production by the end of the year.

CABGOC is one of the largest oil producers in Angola, with a daily production of 79,000 barrels of liquids and 291 million cubic feet of natural gas in 2021.

It operates the concessions for Blocks 0 and 14, with several partners, who have invested over US$250 million over the years.
