Vera Daves represents Angola at the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings

A delegation from Angola led by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa, participates virtually in the traditional Spring Meetings, held by the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The meeting, which runs until the 24th of April, brings together all relevant players from the international economy and finance sectors, to analyze current and relevant issues. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the meetings will be held mainly in virtual format, as in last spring.

The Angolan delegation is also made up of the Minister of Economy and Planning, the Secretary for Economic Affairs of the President of the Republic, the Governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), in addition to senior officials and technicians from these government departments and public institutes. The Angolan delegation will participate in different virtual sessions and meetings at the highest level, aimed at ministers and governors of central banks around the world, in addition to audiences and meetings with executives of international banks and officials from various Bretton Woods and high-profile institutions. international finance, to analyze the international macroeconomic situation and address specific issues related to the African and Angolan regional situation.

Thus, the agenda includes seminars and high-level discussion panels, such as the meeting of the Development Committee, the ANSA Constitution (Angola, Nigeria and South Africa) with the World Bank and the Constitution 1 with the IMF, in for the African Caucus, among others.

Minfin also highlights the seminars in which the macroeconomic situation in Sub-Saharan Africa will be seen by all participants as a relevant case in terms of macroeconomic challenges in the post-Covid-19 context.

It is recalled that Angola has been a member of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund since 1989 and, in recent years, it has "been cementing its relationship with a view to promoting the country's economic growth".
