According to provisional data provided to TV Zimbo by Faustino Miguéns, spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, seven deaths are registered, including a 13-year-old girl and two children of 6 and 7 years old, in the municipality of Cazenga, due to the collapse of the wall of a house.

In the municipality of Luanda, near the fishing port neighborhood, another wall of a house caused the death of two children of 3 years old.

A mother and her daughter, 38 and 15 years old, were electrocuted in the municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, added Faustino Miguéns, stressing the need to acquire more means to help the problems in the city of Luanda.

Several residents shared on social networks videos of flooded roads and houses, some with the inhabitants on top of the roof, as well as bridges at risk and vehicles almost submerged.

The rain also prevented the movement of public transport in several areas of Luanda, so that many people were unable to access their jobs.

In statements to Radio Nacional Angola, Faustino Miguéns confirmed the registration of several flooded streets that created difficulties for the passage of people and vehicles since the early hours of the morning.

The municipal civil protection commissions are surveying the damage caused by the rains, he said, calling on drivers to redouble their attention on the roads and asking for greater vigilance over children and care in contact with the electric current "to avoid cases of electrocution and drowning that have been verified during this period.

Faustino Miguéns also said that there was a substantial increase in the water level in drainage ditches and rainwater containment basins, many of which overflowed onto public roads.

Rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected in the province of Luanda over the next three days, added the fire department spokesman.
