Covid-19: country with four more deaths and 168 new infections

Health authorities announced on Tuesday four more deaths, 168 new infections and 37 recovered patients in the last 24 hours, according to official data.

According to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the National Health Directorate, the country now totals 22,885 positive cases, 547 deaths and 21,489 recovered.

According to the same source, 150 cases were registered in Luanda, 12 in Cuando Cubango, five in Cabinda and one in Huila, in people aged between three and 70 years, being 105 males and 63 females.

The four reported deaths were in Luanda, in Angolan citizens, aged 6, 14, 46 and 71, while the recovered were reported in Luanda (36) and Malanje (1), aged between 1 and 69.

For now the country has 849 active cases, of which two critical, ten severe, 43 moderate, 33 mild and 761 asymptomatic, with 88 patients hospitalized, 49 people in institutional quarantine and 1012 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

At the laboratory level, 1829 samples were processed in the last 24 hours by RT-PCR, being the cumulative of 444,944 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.1 percent.

At the entry and exit points in Luanda, 342 people have undergone rapid serological testing, with antigen complementation in reactive cases.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,862,002 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 131.7 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
