Christian churches call for prayer and observance of protective measures

The Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA) urged pastors and the faithful to "scrupulous compliance" with the guidelines of health authorities on measures to prevent covid-19, warning of the "materialization of the binomial faith and action".

:

"But it is necessary that people, at that time, keep in mind as Christians the binomial prayer and action and people should continue to pray, but scrupulously observing the security measures issued by the authorities," the secretary said this Tuesday to Lusa. general of CICA, Deolinda Dorcas Teca.

For the pastor, who "disapproved" of the attitude of some religious leaders who in the first fifteen days of the state of emergency gathered faithful in disobedience to the authorities, the recommendations of the health authorities are "mandatory compliance".

According to the official, "it is very likely that the message did not reach the pastoral leaders, probably their representatives did not follow the presidential decree".

"So the need for us to continue to work on disseminating and disseminating it through the different media in order for the message to pass or even in national languages", he pointed out.

The general secretary of CICA understands that it is time for pastors to continue to appeal to the faithful to stay at home and to continue to instruct them on preventive measures.

"And as recommendations it is important to first stay at home, respect quarantine, detachment, isolation and leaving the house just for extreme need", he appealed.
