The President of the Republic wants to renew, for the second time, the state of emergency in the country. The request has already been made and it is now up to the AN to vote on its extension.
Américo Cuononoca, president of the MPLA parliamentary group, said he was in favour of renewing the state of emergency. However, the person in charge, cited by Angop, stressed that it was important for the population to comply with the standards imposed.
In the same vein, Liberty Chiaka, leader of UNITA's parliamentary group, also came out in favour of the extension of the state of emergency. However, he called for the economic measures to be lightened slightly to enable the companies to continue operating.
Alexandre Sebastião André, leader of CASA-CE, was also in favour of the decision to renew the state of emergency and mentioned some measures that should be imposed this time: the curfew in Luanda and the provincial capitals from 21h00.
Alexandre Sebastião André also said it would be important to lift some of the restrictions in municipalities that survive mostly in the agricultural sector, to facilitate food production.
The other parliamentary leaders, namely the PRS and FNLA, also came out in favour of the renewal, and the state of emergency is expected to receive a positive opinion from AN. Thus, Angola should live, for another 15 days, under restrictive measures.
