"And in this moment of contingency, we are going to reinforce the fight against the covid-19 that is causing a lot of damage worldwide and Cuba, as always, is willing to help Angola to the extent of our possibilities," said the diplomat.

The 264 Cuban doctors are in a quarantine period in one of the centers in the Angolan capital and will later be distributed to 164 Angolan municipalities.

Among the Cuban contingent of Cuban professionals is the doctor José Alberto Vauê, who in statements to Lusa guaranteed "work and dedication" to fight the new coronavirus in Angola.

"We have already been prepared on what it is to face cases like this type of illness, despite being a novelty for the world", he underlined.

Angola has 19 confirmed cases of covid-19, namely 15 active, two deaths and two recovered.
