The Angolan citizen, over the age of 30, was diagnosed this Monday in Lisbon by the Portuguese health authorities.
I would be in Portugal to accompany a sick child - in a medical board - I tried positive but not showing symptoms of the disease for now. Despite everything, the woman was hospitalized to maintain constant medical monitoring.
Angop says that, in addition to being the 16th positive case with respect to Angolan citizens in Portugal, it is also the 8th positive case with regard to Angolans in the medical board. One of these eight cases did not survive the disease and will have passed away.
It is also known that five Angolans died outside the country as victims of the covid-19. The information was advanced by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, who confirmed one death in Portugal, three deaths in the USA and one death in England.
The person in charge of the Health Ministry also informed that, taking into account the degree of lethality and contagion caused by the disease, international protocols prohibit the transfer of bodies. In this way, Angolans who died were buried in the countries where they were.
However, it was ensured that consular services have monitored Angolans who contracted the disease outside the country, ensuring diplomatic follow-up for national citizens.
