According to the coordinator of the Covid-19 Intersectoral Pandemic Control Commission, Pedro Sebastião, Cuban doctors who have just arrived will be present in all municipalities in Angola to "guarantee the safety of the populations".

"This [covid-19] touches on aspects related to national defense and Angola, already having experiences in these areas, could not pass up the opportunity to stress this in favor of the safety of its populations," he said, speaking to journalists.

The also Minister of State and head of the President's Security House, who was speaking at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, reiterated calls for compliance with the protection measures against the new coronavirus.

The 264 Cuban doctors who arrived in Angola are in a quarantine period.

Angola has 19 confirmed cases of infected people, including 15 active, two deaths and two recovered.

As of this Saturday, the country has another 15 days of state of emergency, extended on Thursday by President João Lourenço.

For Pedro Sebastião, despite reports of disobedience to the state of emergency, which limits the movement and permanence of people on the street, the moment "is also an experience because it is a new reality for the country".

"It is the first time that it has happened in Angola and this has served as a learning experience for the defense and security forces, and the population and many people are not yet aware of the seriousness of the matter, which should be seen over time," he noted.
