Power has already been restored in six of the ten provinces affected by the blackout

Six of the ten provinces affected this Thursday by a general blackout have already restored electricity, the Ministry of Energy and Water reported.

According to a note from the ministry, electricity has begun to be phased back into the ten provinces interconnected by the country's northern, central and southern systems.

Luanda province was the first to see the situation restored, in the order of 80 percent, after the anomaly recorded around 11.15am.

"There is already tension in six interconnected provinces, missing Zaire, Benguela, Huambo and Bié", indicates the note.

The disconnection has affected all the production plants, lines and transport systems of the interconnected system.

In a statement to the Lusa agency, Neusa Cumbe, director of the institutional communication and press office of the Ministry of Energy and Waters of Angola, said that the cause of the shutdown has not yet been identified, but situations of this kind have been increasingly rare.

"Our system is not yet completely reliable, there may have been a storm that dragged the groups," said Neusa Cumbe, explaining that the Laúca group is a modern system and "when there are problems it accuses, turning itself off.

"And when it shuts down, it drags all the production plants, lines and transport systems to protect the equipment," she said.

The interconnected system in the north, center and south covers the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul, Uige, Zaire, Malanje, Benguela, Bié and Huambo.
