According to a statement from the government of the province of Luanda (GPL), to which VerAngola had access, the handover ceremony took place at the Reaction and Patrol Unit (URP), as part of the Technical and Operational Capacity Strengthening Programme, "with the aim of improving the capacity to respond to the needs of the province".

According to a statement from the National Police, to which VerAngola had access, the handover of the 14 vehicles and 100 motorbikes aims to "strengthen the police fleet and increase operational capacity in vehicle and motorised patrolling in the country's capital city, ensuring the continued maintenance of public order and tranquillity".

On the occasion, the governor of Luanda considered that these new means will bring improvements to the working conditions and mobility of police officers, and "emphasised the commitment of the provincial government to continue working hard to improve police infrastructure, which will allow the police to get closer to citizens in the communities".

He said they are on the right track: "We are on the right track, we will have a more active police force, closer to the population, with more mobility and automatically safer streets", he said, quoted by Angop.

According to the head of the Department of Institutional Communication and Press and spokesperson for the Police in Luanda, Nestor Goubel, "this is a clear act and a sign of the concern and monitoring of the government of the province of Luanda regarding the difficulties of mobility of the police force in the operational territory of the city".

Quoted in the statement from the National Police, Nestor Goubel also said that "the aforementioned automobiles and motorized vehicles will be handed over to the municipal commands, as needed, which will facilitate the prompt intervention of the police in matters related to the public safety of the population".

In addition to Luís Nunes, the event was also attended by the provincial commander of Luanda of the National Police, Manuel Francisco Gonçalves, the vice-governors for the Technical Area and Infrastructures, Calunga Francisco Zage Quissanga, for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel António Gonçalves, and for the Economic Sector, Jorge Miguêns Augusto, as well as the municipal administrator of Maianga, Pedro Orlando Afonso Paca, among others.
