The embassy, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, said that this multi-sectoral government mission is expected this Tuesday in Lagos (Nigeria), "to explore opportunities for a public-private partnership in the areas of the petrochemical industry, agriculture, biofertilizers, oil and sugar refining".

This delegation includes the ministers of Industry and Commerce and Agriculture, Rui Miguêns de Oliveira and Isaac Maria dos Anjos, respectively.

The mission is also made up of the Secretary of State for Oil, José Barroso, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Sonangol, Sebastião Gaspar Martins, the CEO of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, Paulino Jerónimo, as well as the Director General of the Regulatory Institute for Petroleum Derivatives, Luís Fernandes.

"The Angolan mission's trip to Nigeria is a response to the proposals made by the African magnate and president of the Dangote Industries Group, Aliko Dangote, in an audience last November with President João Lourenço," the note reads.

According to the statement, the Nigerian businessman intends to "formalize his participation in the construction of the Lobito Refinery within the scope of the Lobito Corridor investments, the direct acquisition and exploration of oil blocks in Angola's onshore and offshore, as well as the acquisition or management of cement factories".

Furthermore, its intentions also "extend to the implementation of integrated sugarcane production and refining projects, as well as the opening of a subsidiary of the Dangote Industries Group in Angola to conform its investments in various segments."

The embassy also reports that a memorandum of understanding may be signed at the end of the visit, "as a first step towards making the African multimillionaire's investments in Angola viable."
