On the occasion, according to a statement from the embassy cited by Angop, the President of Rwanda asked the ambassador to inform João Lourenço about his full availability and that of his Executive to work and cooperate with all available resources to contribute to peace in the region.

In bilateral terms, Kagame highlighted the excellent political-diplomatic and collaborative relations that exist between the two countries, and also congratulated the Angolan ambassador and his team for the positive results obtained in the mission in Rwanda.

Furthermore, he also expressed the willingness of his Executive to continue supporting Angolan ambassadors in their missions, writes Angop.

Filomeno Octávio, who is finishing his mandate after seven years of mission, expressed gratitude to the Rwandan Government, particularly the President of Rwanda, for the facilities and support provided to Angolan diplomats, so that the work would be successful.

While James Kabarebe, Rwanda's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in charge of the East African Community, assessed the current relations between Angola and Rwanda. Quoted by Angop, the official highlighted the first meeting of the Bilateral Joint Commission, which took place in 2022, recalling the celebration and that nine cooperation agreements are being implemented in sectors such as health, justice and human rights, mineral resources, oil and gas, among others.

Furthermore, he also pointed out that the second meeting of the Joint Commission is scheduled for this year, in which the signing of another 12 agreements that are being negotiated is expected.

It should be recalled that, on Saturday, President João Lourenço called for a ceasefire in the east of the DRC, with a view to facilitating peace negotiations between the M23 movement and the Congolese delegation, whose talks are scheduled to take place this Tuesday in Luanda.
