The Japanese engineering and industrial construction company will supply a total of six pieces of equipment for urea production. The information was provided by the company's CEO, Eiji Hosoi, who was received this Monday by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.
Quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, to which VerAngola had access, Hosoi announced that Toyo Engineering will provide "six cryptographic equipment for the production of urea, in addition to the license and development model for the engineering work".
At the time, he made a commitment to collaborate with Japanese financing: "We are committed to collaborating with Japanese financing, expanding opportunities in the sector, which are not limited to the production of fertilizers, but also extend to energy and petrochemicals," he said.
According to the government, the aforementioned company will collaborate with the Opaia Group "in the development of industrial infrastructures focused on fertilizers and other strategic partnerships".
Luís Dias, vice-president of the Opaia group, said that the construction of the fertilizer manufacturing unit in Soyo is proceeding "as planned, with all preliminary phases completed".
Thus, he said that the factory should start producing urea on May 20, 2027. "The forecast for the start of urea production is May 20, 2027. The urea market is in high demand, since the product is scarce and essential to increase global agricultural production," he pointed out, adding that "the project also brings prospects for creating specialized jobs, offering new opportunities for the Angolan people."
The person in charge of the Opaia group also said that "the urea to be produced will be of high quality, comparable to the best products on the global market, highlighting the technologies of the companies KBR and Toyo as fundamental to achieving this level of excellence".
The ministry says that Toyo Engineering Corporation is involved in a "major project in Angola, in partnership with the Opaia Group, which aims to build a large-scale ammonia and urea fertilizer plant in the city of Soyo, under the leadership of the Opaia Group, through its subsidiary Amufert S.A., to boost the country's agricultural and industrial sectors."
