Angola with 163 more cases of cholera. Cuanza Norte continues to be a concern

Angola reported 163 new cases of cholera, a third of which in the province of Cuanza Norte, where three more deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest cholera bulletin, updated at 6:00 pm this Monday, 163 new cases of cholera were reported, of which 56 in the province of Cuanza Norte, 54 in Luanda, 21 in Bengo, 12 in Icolo and Bengo, ten in Zaire, six in Malanje and four in Cabinda.

There were also three deaths, all in the municipality of Cazengo, Cuanza Norte, where over the weekend 16 people died due to the disease, in the Luinha area.

To prevent the spread of the disease, the Luanda Railway suspended passenger and freight trains in several affected locations, namely at the Zenza do Itombe, Ndalawi (Beira Alta), Múria and Luinha stations.

Angola has now accumulated, since the beginning of the outbreak, declared on January 7, 7573 cases and 285 deaths, mainly affecting children between 2 and 5 years old.

224 patients are hospitalized and another 73 people have been discharged.
