Between March 3 and 10, Angola recorded a total of 902 new cases. More than 100 new cases of cholera were registered in seven consecutive days, and in the last 24 hours, the country registered 87, the lowest number in recent days, and three more deaths, according to an epidemiological bulletin from the Ministry of Health.
Since the start of the outbreak on 7 January, the country has reported a total of 6651 cases: 3477 in Luanda province, the epicentre of the epidemic, 2203 in Bengo province, Icolo and Bengo (718), Malanje (109), Benguela (48), Cuanza Sul (30), Huambo (17), Uíge (15), Zaire (11), Cabinda (10), Huíla (7), Cuanza Norte (4) and Cunene and Cubango with one case each.
Angola has a total of 240 deaths, of which 124 were in the province of Luanda.
The age group most affected by cholera is 2 to 5 years old, with 1019 cases and 41 deaths, followed by the age group 10 to 14 years old, with 874 cases and 17 deaths.
The fatality rate of the cholera outbreak in Angola is 3.6 percent, according to official data.
