Economy grew 4.4 percent in 2024, announces INE

Angola's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 4.4 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to preliminary data released by the National Institute of Statistics.

According to the Quick Fact Sheet on the quarterly accounts for the fourth quarter, this positive change is mainly attributed to the activities of Extraction of diamonds, metallic minerals and others (44.8 percent); Transport and storage (10.4 percent); Fishing (12.2 percent); Electricity and water (6.5 percent); Trade (4.6 percent); Other services (4.9 percent); Public Administration, Defence and Mandatory Social Security (4.3 percent), Agriculture (3.5 percent) and Extraction and refining of oil (2.8 percent).

GDP grew 3.6 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter, according to the INE.

The activities that contributed the most, in terms of participation, and were important factors for the performance of the activity in the GDP of the fourth quarter of 2024 were Extraction and refining of crude oil and natural gas with 23.8 percent; Trade with 22.1 percent; followed by Manufacturing Products with 10.6 percent, Agriculture and Forestry with 9.1 percent; Fishing with 8.4 percent and Other services with 8.2 percent.

The Gross Domestic Product in the fourth quarter of 2024 totaled 23,025,128 million kwanzas, of which 259,451 million kwanzas correspond to Taxes on Products net of Subsidies.
