"It's a pride to represent the country that I feel like, the country that I grew up hearing about. It was a family decision, a decision that I feel will be good and I'm here to help and I'm here to be one more", said the 24-year-old player, in an interview released this Thursday by the Angolan Football Federation (FAF).

David Carmo also spoke about his integration into the national team, pointing out that he was well received.

"I'm very happy, it's a very happy group, with a lot of unity and only then will we be able to do good things on the field. I've been well integrated, everyone has welcomed me well and has made me feel like I'm part of the group and I'm very happy," he said.

In the interview released by FAF, David Carmo also highlighted that the country's "excellent campaign" in CAN "raised expectations".

"They are now coming off an excellent campaign in the CAN, which obviously has raised expectations and we will try to respond to that. We now have two important preparatory games, we will try to respond well because in June we have two games that are worth it, as they say, for our great ambition which is the World Cup and we will go game by game to prepare in the best way and not try to think about the final objective, but rather about the means to achieve that objective", he stated.

Born in Aveiro, Portugal, the player is the son of an Angolan father and was European under-19 champion for Portugal in 2018. David Carmo, who is on loan from FC Porto to Olympiacos, is part of the squad for the Angola games with Morocco (scheduled for this Friday, March 22nd) and with the Comoros Islands (scheduled for March 25th).
