According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, in the telephone conversation, the two government officials also spoke about regional issues.

"In a phone call that took place in the middle of the afternoon this Wednesday, the two heads of state also discussed regional issues", the note reads.

It is recalled that, in March last year, the President of France paid a visit to Angola, as part of strengthening cooperation between both countries.

In July 2023, João Lourenço, in his message of congratulations on France Day, addressed to his French counterpart, pointed out that cooperation between both countries is carried out in "vital areas capable of boosting the progress and development of Angola, as well as strengthen France's action mechanisms in favor of promoting the well-being of Humanity".

At the time, the head of state also reiterated the Government's interest in maintaining friendly ties between both countries, as well as the dynamics of the bilateral relationship.

The European country has a significant presence in the national oil sector, wanting to increase cooperation in various areas. According to Angop, more than 70 French companies operate in the country, offering approximately 10 thousand jobs.
