The lack of water and energy and financial difficulties also affected the sector in the period under review, according to the Quick Information Sheet (FIR) on the Economic Situation for Companies for the third quarter of 2023 in Angola.
However, the FIR, prepared by the National Statistics Institute (INE), shows that the confidence indicator in the manufacturing industry contradicted the downward trend and evolved positively compared to the previous quarter.
“The evolution remained above the series average. The economic situation is favorable for the sector”, states the FIR, to which Lusa had access today.
The positive evolution of the indicator in relation to the same period last year “resulted from the favorable behavior of the variables ‘current activity’ and ‘activity prospects’”.
The confidence indicator for the commerce sector also showed a “positive trend” and evolved favorably in comparison to the same quarter of the previous year, with the economic situation remaining favorable for commercial companies”, highlights the FIR.
In relation to the construction sector, “despite the negative trend in confidence”, the economic situation, in the period under analysis, “remained favorable, because the indicator evolved positively in relation to the same quarter of the previous year and remained above the series average”.
In the transport sector, the confidence indicator showed a positive trend compared to the same quarter of the previous year, “but still”, notes INE, “it remained below the series average”.
For extractive industries, the economic situation remained favorable in the third quarter of 2023, with the indicator maintaining the upward trend of the previous quarter.
The economic situation became unfavorable for the communication sector, “as the indicator went against the upward trend of the last four quarters and was below the series average”, the FIR also reads.
