National short film premieres this month and goes to festival in Peru

An Angolan short film is registered in the ‘Latin American Film Festival in Native Languages’ festival, taking place in Peru, in April. However, before arriving at the festival, the short film, titled “O Poder”, is scheduled to premiere this month, at Cefejor-Huambo.

:

The premiere of this production – by the directors of the film "Onde Está Deus?", director António Guimarães and producer TP Films – takes place on March 15th.

The information was revealed by António Guimarães who, in statements to Angop, stated that participation in what is considered the most prestigious short film festival in Latin America will be preceded by the premiere, to take place at Cefejor-Huambo, on the 15th of this month.

"O Poder" concerns an action short film and has a cast made up of Angolans, Portuguese and Cubans, namely Frank Rizo, Emignio Humberto, António Guardado, Nelson Nhanga, Carina Carvalheda and João Sapalo "73D".

The short film, according to the director, aims to be a social critique about a small portion of drug sales, ending up involving international trafficking brothels. According to Angop, the production will tell the story of the Cuban drug trafficker Nhoa who suffers injustice from his boss and, taken by the desire to take control of drug trafficking in the region, kills his boss, ending up having to face the fury of his best friend.

It should be noted that the director and producer entered the world of cinema in 2015, through the creation of "Fantasma de Abena". His CV also includes productions such as "Nós Diabólico", "Nascidos no Escuro", as well as "Onde Está Deus?" – made public last year, with Netflix extending the official launch to 2024.

The 'Latin American Film Festival in Native Languages' is scheduled for April 8th to 12th.
