National team draws and complicates qualifying for CAN2023

The national football team, coached by the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, drew this Monday against Ghana 1-1, in Luanda, and complicated the qualification for the African Cup of Nations (CAN2023), in a game of the fourth round of Group E.

:

Lucas João, in the 51st minute, with a penalty, put Angola ahead, while Osman Bukari, in the 72nd minute, restored equality.

In the first round game, in Ghanaian territory, the Angolans lost by 1-0, after a goal scored by Antoine Semenyo, already in stoppage time, in the 90+5 minute.

The team will play again on June 11th against the Central African Republic, on loan in Cameroon, and, in case of defeat, it will lose the possibility of being present in the biggest African competition in terms of selections. Angola ends the qualifying phase, in Luanda, hosting Madagascar, in September.

In the other group game, the Central African Republic beat Madagascar again, this time by 2-0, at home, after a 3-0 victory over the same opponent, in the first round game, in the field of the defeated.

With this result, Angola remains third in Group E, with five points, with Ghana leading, with eight, followed by the Central African Republic, with seven. Madagascar is last, with one.
