Akwá returns to the fields of professional football

Sixteen years after ending his career, Fabrice Maieco Akwá is back on the pitch of professional football. The 45-year-old athlete will join the National Club of Benguela, at the invitation of the president of the Benguela emblem, Evanir Coelho.

The president of Nacional de Benguela, Evanir Coelho, announced the reinforcement on the Club's Facebook page: "Fabrice Akwá will be the big news for the Angola Cup game", reads the publication.

"I proudly announce the face-to-face contribution of Fabrice Alcebíade Maieco 'Akwa' on the 29/3, in the Angola Cup game after 16 years in front of the Lunda Sul sports team", adds the publication.

In turn, Akwá resorted to his Facebook page to show his gratitude. "My love for the National Club of Benguela has no equal, my gratitude for the club that formed me and transformed me into the player that I was or am, the man that I am. Even if he had a plaster cast on one of his legs or one of his arms, he would say yes, yes, yes and yes", wrote the athlete.

"Thank you for this unique moment in my life, and that 16 years after having a journey full of battles, I will be back. I can't wait to wear the Sacred Mantle of the Centenary Club again", reads the publication.

According to Angop, Akwá – who returns to the house where he played his first football career – is already enrolled, and may present himself to the club this Monday.

Remember that the footballer 'reformed' his boots in 2008, when he was wearing Petro de Luanda's shirt.

The footballer, who played for several clubs in Europe and Asia, according to Angop, is considered the national team's top scorer with 38 goals in 78 games, having scored the goal that qualified Angola for the 2006 World Cup, in Germany.

It should be remembered that last year, FIFA withdrew the sanctions imposed on the footballer in 2009, when the player exceeded the time of absence from Al Wakrah in favor of the national team, ending up being fined more than 200 thousand dollars.
