1.º de Agosto players lifted the strike and resume training

The football and basketball players of 1.º de Agosto lifted the strike this Tuesday and resumed training, after having stopped work on Monday, due to several months of arrears of wages.

The setback in decision-making was due to the fact that the club's management promised to pay, in due course, the overdue salaries to athletes, who have not been paid for three months, as well as to employees, who have been without wages for seven months.

1.º de Agosto, a club assigned to the Angolan Armed Forces, is experiencing a financial crisis never before recorded in the history of football in the country, due to the cut in funds by the Ministry of Finance, of 800 million kwanzas per month, proposed by the club, to 200 million to be made available through the Ministry of Defence.

It was the club with the highest salaries in football in the country and, at the moment, it is without the financial capacity to complete the works of its sports city, which have been going on for more than eight years.

Luanda's emblem is the second with the most national titles in football in the country, totaling 13 achievements, and is also the most eclectic in Africa, with 16 modalities.

In the Angolan football championship, the team occupies the third position, with 44 points, 10 less than the leader Petro de Luanda, the most titled team, with 15 championships won.
